Koizora

Name: Koizora – Sky of Love
Category: love, shojo
Rating: 16? I don’t know.
Watch at: http://www.mysoju.com/koizora/

It was Elict who submitted a picture from Koizora at bdb, and wrote some about it.

Actor: Aragaki Yui
Mika, the main chracter. If I can say so, Mika’s pretty weak.  Though her love for Hiro is strong, she can’t really do anything, except getting into trouble.
She has a very nice way of describing her loves as.
Hiro is steady like a river. (Never mind that Hiro’ d rather be the Sky.)
Yu is like the sea, always returning to Mika. (Said by Yu himself, but Mika agrees.)

Actor: Miura Haruma
Sweet Hiro is the one that Mika loves, and the one who loves Hika the most. He’s a “scary-looking” guy, as Mika says in the beginning of the film, but he’s really sweet, and a very kind guy, who only want to defend the girl he loves.

It’s a wonderful film.

Regularily, I don’t really like romantic movies, but Koizora isn’t really like other, I think. It displays how cruel, or wonderful, reality can be.
It’s a movie that has the ability to touch the soul, I think. I cried when I watched the end. All three times I watched it.

Hiro– I will become the sky and always look after Mika from above …

Mika– then, every time I look at the sky I will think of Hiro…
… A clear sky means Hiro is in a good mood…
… A rainy day means Hiro is crying…
… A sunset means Hiro is embarassed…
… A night sky means Hiro is warmly hugging me…

H
iro–I only brought you a cheap ring, to make it to you I will bring all the stars in the universe.

Not a very good review, I know. I translated it from when I wrote it half a year ago.

Let The Right One In

Copy/paste-ing an old thing I wrote about John Ajvide Linquist’s “Let The Right One In”

Let the Right One In (Swedish: Låt den rätte komma in), also known as Let Me In, is a 2004 vampire fiction novel by Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist. The story centers on the relationship between a 12-year-old boy, Oskar, and a 200-year-old vampire child, Eli, of indeterminate gender. It takes place in Blackeberg, a working class suburb of Stockholm, in the early ’80s. The book focuses on the darker side of humanity, dealing with issues such as bullying, drugs, theft, pedophilia, prostitution and murder as well as the obvious supernatural themes.

The place, Blackeberg, is very good described, and reality is mixed with folklore in a really nice way. And in the movie, and in the book, one can undertsand that “this is not the 20-th century. In the movie, it’s also easy, I think, to assosiate with the swedish 80’s. It’s not mentioned in above quota from Wikipedia, but this book does not focus that much on the adults in the book. It’s much more from the childrens point of view. And even though it’s played out in Blackeberg, which is a suburb to Stockholm, the movie has apparently been recorded in Luleå.

The book was a bestseller in the author’s home country of Sweden and has been translated into Danish, German, Russian and English in 2007. A Swedish language film version by the same name, directed by Tomas Alfredson, was released in 2008 to widespread critical acclaim. An English language remake, to be directed by Matt Reeves, is scheduled for release in 2010.

I did actually not know this, that it is so popular. It makes me happy, since it’s such an awesome book. I’d have to say, it’s absolutely the best vampire-book I’ve read.
But in my oppinion, there is no need to do a remake of the movie. I like it as it is. Learn how to add subtitles instead, or learn swedish.
And the swedish movie seems to have gooten a lot of awards, it seems;  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_the_Right_One_In_(film)

Oskar is a 12-year-old-boy who is being bullied at school. He befriends a mysterious child, Eli, who moves in next door with an older man, Håkan. Eli is revealed to be a vampire, but the two children develop a close relationship and Eli helps Oskar fight back against his tormentors.

The characterisations are really awesome in this book. They’re not flat, like in the “Twilight”-books. They have deep, emotions, are one of a kind, and easy to identify with.
As far as I’ve heard from the others in the “book-circle” I’m in at school, author John Ajvide Lindqvist is represented in all his books. In “Hanteringen av odöda” (Handling the Undead), he’s a journalist, or something like that. In “Let The Right One In”, he’s represented in Oskar, and Eli is a friend that John made up when he was a kid.
I like one thing that Eli says, when Oskar asks if “she” is very old. Eli replys; “I’m 12 years old. It’s just that I’ve been 12 for a really long time.”

The title refers to the Morrissey song “Let the Right One Slip In” (featured on the Viva Hate special edition album) but also to the aspect of vampire folk lore which says that vampires cannot enter a house unless invited.

I’d like to hear that song, and will listen to it once the sound have returned to my computor.
Parts of the lyrics are actually included in the book, at least in the swedish hard-back-copy (is that what it’s called?), but not in the pocket-book. (which I happen to own.) I read it before I bought it, though. I borrowed it from a friend, ~vampiregirlchika, who happens to own a hard-back-copy.

The American version is called Let Me In because the publishers requested that Lindqvist change the title as they believed it was too long.

Do you don’t like long titles, or what? I think the title gets whole new meaning when they changed the title (aka, not as much meaning as the original title)

There is also an American version under the title Let the Right One In, which is also the english title of the film.

Learn how to add subtitles, I’d say. Though I will watch the american re-make of the movie when it gets to sweden. Sweden should have the rights to get the movie out in the cinemas at the same time as they broadcast it ion America, too, since it’s based off of a swedish best-seller.

However I’m sad that they deleted so much in the movie, the script was written by Ajvide Lindqvist, and he erased scenes he thought of “lesser importance”, I suppose. But I’m happy they deleted two of the scenes, which I belive would have made the rating highr then it is.
One scene is when Virginia “turns” and the other when Håkan “starts to live”. No further explanation given, you’ll have to read the book.

But really, do read the book, and watch the movie. They’re both awesome, really. I love them so much. Beats Twilight thosands of times, too.

Air Gear-anime

So, first post will be filled with Air Gear anime.

Name: Air Gear
Author: Oh! Great!
Mangaka: Oh! Great!
Category: Shonen, Street Action
Rating: 16+ (language, crude humor, violence, partial nudity, sexual situations)
Watch at: http://www.animetrip.com/agear/

I love this series a lot. It’s filled with speed, humor, action, and interesting characters.
I don’t really know what to write, since I’m new at writing about stuff like this, but..

I advie you so see it, I really do.^^ It’s awesome, and the sound is upbeat, makes ones body shake.

The battles are amazing, and it’s very easy to get jaelous over Ikki’s and the other’s wings.

Ikki’s the main character,, an orpahn who lives with four sisters.
He’s perverted, always having a crow as a companion, and has a way to catch the interest of many weird fellas.
Always looking up towards the sky, Higachuu Gunz Babyface, “Karasu”, “Crow” Ikki, is a very fun, easygoing and odd guy.

Rika is the oldest sister, and secretly works as a professional female wrestler.
Strongwilled, intelligent, former “Ibara no jouo”, “Queen of Thorns”, is the total opposite of her sister Ringo.
She’s the “mother” in the house, and the one who raised her three sisters and Ikki, and she’s very protective of them all, even though it might not be noticed that well, on Ikki’s part.

The second oldest sister.
Sadistic, even though not the most sadistic bastard in the series, she’s a stern, also strongwilled, otaku, nerd.
She loves old video-games, and she’s also pretty smart.

Ringo is, in reality, smart, fast, and strong, even though she don’t seem like it. In love with Ikki, as well. Which the guys in their class usually complains about.
She often surprises Ikki and his friends with her knowledge, and her hot head, which causes her to hit Ikki and friends without a second though, even if she sometimes regrets it.
She is the heir to the leading position in the legendary “Sleeping Forest” and she rules the “Sonia Road”, which is only displayed in the 20-something-episode, during their feild-trip to Kyoto.

Ume is a cute, weird, and quite creepy kid with love for singing scary songs while sewing on her odd dolls. (Don’t mind the fact that she’s only sewing on the one she’s holding, every time.)
She’s a really good sewer-kid, and often has the power to scare anyone with her weird ways, mixed with her cute, childish accent and looks.
Don’t be fooled though, she’s a dangerous little kid, I can tell you.

“Subame no Simca”, “Simca the Swallow”, is probably the caracter who’s seen nude mostly, beside maybe Ikki.
She’s both smart, and very stupid, at the same time, and she is the one to blame for all the trouble that Ikki lands in.
She seems to see him as her toy, or her bird.
As the leader of “Genesis”, the group ruling over all Stormrides (except Sleeping Forest), she has the power to control all stormriders under her wings.

Spitfire is the handsome righthandman to Simca, and often has to take care of her messes, it seems.
At moments, his eyes glow red, and he can silence anyone by only look upon them(except Ikki, ofcourse).
Spitfire is, as his name maybe tells, the king of “flame road” and can make the heat from the friction of his ATs look like fire.

Wanajima Kaito, the “alligator of Shinjuku”, is a cop, in charge of the Windstorm G-Men, a squad with polices armed with hidden Air Trecks in their pants, and one hell of arrogance.
Kaito is the most sadistic guy in the whole series, and seems to love to torture his little brother, Akito. One of the members in his squad mentions that it’s the only way that he knows how to express his love and care.
He loves his very big truck, lives in a van named mess itself, and always carries around a whip.
Mean, but awesome.

Agito is “kiba no ou”, and rules “Fang Road”. He’s a berserker, and one of the most powerful stormriders. He showed up inside of Akito when Akito couldn’t ride any more.
This guy has more similar personality to his brother, than his alter ego does.
And he swears a lot, so if you don’t like people who swear, you probably won’t like him too much.
He’s prone to violence, too, and when he had to wear a weddingdress, in the belief that he didn’t have any other clothes, he beats the crap out of Iron, who actually had his clothes with him.
He once was best friend with the other Fang King, Udou Akira, but they fell apart, and he had to take back the Fang Regalia from Akira, during the battle against Bebhemoth, Akira’s team.

Akito, the “original” personality of Agito, is the real Fang King.
He was taught to ride Air Treck by Kaito, and was one of the members in Windstorm G-Men, until he found out why Kaito had raised him the way he did, and after that, he was unable to ride any more.
Cheerful, happy-go-lucky with split personality, he’s a very cute “murderer”, who easy charms others, without meaning it.
He’s Simca’s and Ringo’s rival for Ikki’s love.

Yaou, Buccha.
Former leader of the AT-team Yaou.
He’s the former shadow-king during night at Higachuu, and he used to be very mean to every person who crossed his path.
He loves to eat, and loves AT most of all, because he don’t feel his weight when he flies.

Kazu is one of Ikki’s best friends, who he’ve known since he was a kid.
He’s strong, but not the best at fighting. His strongest point is spped, and he’s the fastest person in Ikki’s team, Kogarasumaru.

Onigiri is one of the most perverted characters. He’s even invented his own road, Bad Smell Road, which has the meaning of him sweating bunches to smell bad, to make people (girls) see illusions.

Ton-chan, Tomita Mari, is Ikk’s and the other’s home room teacher.
She’s dense, but she still desided to become a teacher, because of Orihara-sensei.
